The Snake River Animal Shelter (SRAS) is a non-profit organization with 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status. The City of Idaho Falls City Council voted in favor of SRAS to raise funds to build a shelter on city owned leased land in April of 2008.

Snake River Animal Shelter offers the following products and/or services:
»Non-Profit Organizations (4)On average nearly 100 dogs and cats are euthanized each week in the Upper Snake River Valley. That is where the idea was formed to create an animal shelter that would not only provide a safe place for the animals but also allow for the community to be involved in animal welfare.
The Snake River Animal Shelter (SRAS) was formed in June of 2006. By April 2008, the Idaho Falls City Council had approved a 12 acre piece of land for the SRAS. Now that the land has been approved, it’s time to join together and raise the $2.5 million needed to finish the project.
Facility
The Animal Shelter will be a 7,200 square feet building on of a 12 acre piece of property located on West River Road in Idaho Falls, Idaho. As we progress we plan to have a separate building used to quarantine new animals that come in.
An education facility will also be an essential part of the Animal Shelter. This facility will provide a meeting space to support all types of learning and training classes such as pet behaviors, owner behavior/responsibilities, spay and neutering events, and perhaps even support groups for people who have lost a pet.
The SRAS property is located a 100 feet from the beautiful Snake River and will provide public access to it. The plans also include a section devoted to a children’s fishing pond, recreational area, a pasture and barn, and possibly even a dog park. This will allow animals, potential animal owners, and volunteers to enjoy the park-like atmosphere provided at the shelter.
The Animal Shelter will also provide space for all support services needed, which include, separate dog and cat kennels, quarantine and holding kennels, a food preparation area, laundry services and administrative offices.
Services
The Animal Shelter plans to include the following care services:
Adoption Program
Spay/Neuter Program
Foster Care Program
Training Classes
Veterinary Services
Vaccination
Dog Grooming
Exercise Yard
Pet Supply Store
Get acquainted Rooms
